Isolation, quarantine, whatever you wanna call it. Not fun. Day was spent watching movies and taking too much ibuprofen. Quick Reviews:
8mm – yo this script feels like it was written by a 12 year old who saw a rated-R movie once. Solid Nic Cage performance though.
The Elephant Man – needed this palette cleanser. This and The Straight Story were the only two Lynch films I hadn’t seen up to this point. Anyone who knows me knows I love when Lynch gets weird, but the way he can capture dynamic and explosive emotions is just as important, and The Elephant Man was that raw emotion encapsulated. I’m not the first one to say this crap, everyone knows it already. But it was a great movie.
The Butterfly Effect – Way more plot holes than I remembered, and the movie logic itself is flimsy at best, but nostalgia-brain and Ashton Kutcher’s performance kept this enjoyable all these years later. The man acts his ass off, there’s no question about it. And that alternate ending is absolutely insane.
