Something about the covers in this Ravenclaw box set make me want to dive into these books instantly. These are by far the most popular commercial books of all time, but the art here gives them an old-timey, fantasy, written-in-an-ancient-library manuscript vibe. I don’t know, I just love it. Very excited to see into the nooks and crannies of Hogwarts that the movies couldn’t get to, and to meet all the characters as well. When the buzzer to my apartment, well, buzzed, I all but leapt from my chair to get it, because I was not going to miss this delivery. When these scumbags overworked and underpaid individuals don’t hear your voice on the intercom in about 10 seconds, they bring that oh-so-long-awaited package of yours right to the most inconvenient pickup station they can find. Some office store across the city? Great. What’s that? My package is at a tanning salon that closes at 4pm, an hour before the rest of the business world gets out of work? Fantastic. Oh, and if any of you pick up one of the Hogwarts House box sets, please send pics. The Slytherin one looked absolutely sick in that green color.
Otherwise, the day wasn’t bad for a wednesday. Got a lot of work done actually, and as a reward, ordered myself some decent pizza this time. And you know what? I think I have to thank that other place for lowering the bar so low (unfathomably lower than I ever thought it could go) for pizza, because when I tasted the pizza from my usual place again, it was like… What used to be good enough not to complain about was now a goddamn delicacy. The bad certainly contextualizes the good, doesn’t it. Go have yourselves a great rest of your Wednesday.
I’ll see you tomorrow.
