My fave poster 🙂

Today was the first day where work didn’t feel like work all that much, which is dope. Cruised around a ‘creative-elements’ site, looking for templates or just a starting point for a potential Brand logo video animation as an intro to future videos. Found a sick one, tinkered with it in After effects for a few hours, and took all the credit when my boss loved it. Also made my first hellofresh meal, which was some nondescript german cured ham with a kind of gnocchi pasta? Solid 6/10.

Then finished The Office once again. And I have to say, the Pam and Brian stuff still isn’t great, but I remember hating it so much more than I did this time. I think we were all truly emotionally invested in Jim and Pam’s fictional relationship back then, and knowing that the writers did something just for the sake of adding tension or grit didn’t sit right. But seeing it with fresh eyes, it doesn’t seem as hamfisted as I used to think it was. Necessary? Not at all. But instead of showing “uh oh, will Pam cheat on Jim, will they divorce??”, it struck me more as showing that these pathways in life show up, and often times you can see them if you actually pay attention. Pam would never cheat on Jim, and Brian never even flirted with Pam. But he did let her know that he would be there for her. You see what I’m getting at? Like, if you rent a sublet in another city and only interact with your wife about work and kid stuff, she probably won’t just up and adulterize. But she may start seeing that things don’t have to stay this way. Brian was that reminder, that certain doors will open if we keep jiggling the handle. Eh, it still kinda sucked but I was surprised that I felt different about it at all. Also, Creed’s final scene? Iconic.

Was this what you wanted? Probably not, but in the famous words of Jeff Probst, I got nothin’ else for ya. Head back to camp.

See you tomorrow.

Nick
