March 22, 2022 – Photoblog

So, that didn’t exactly go as planned. You know that book, “My Year of Rest and Relaxation?” this past month has been the opposite of that: “My Month of Anxiety and Perpetual Stress” but you know what? I won’t bore you with the details. I got in over my head, and I paid the iron price. Every single day I missed of this blog is now included again, with a picture of myself that I hate, saying “I’m sorry”. It felt like the least I could do. Also, if you go back to February 12th, when my absence began, you will see that each post still has some words in it. Since my goal this year is also to finish a novel, each of these posts carries a snippet of that novel, all laid out in order, until today.

If you just decided to go through the whole thing and are seeing this post after those posts, this is probably confusing, but then again, you probably don’t exist.

Some quick updates that matter the most:

Saw The Batman, solid 7 movie, really liked but didn’t love.

Thesis handed in and Immigration office in the process of administering my official work visa (probably should have been the first update lol).

Took the official Harry Potter house sorting quiz and somehow got Slytherin, which really pissed me off. Yeah I spout off against gryffindor for all the cheap points cuckledore gives them, but I’m no anti-muggle yuppie or darth emo wannabe either. Seriously, pisses me off.

There’s probably more, but enough for now. The weather has been beautiful in Mainz, as you can see above, and I hope you enjoy the novel as it exists so far. I doubt I’ll post more direct snippets, but I do think I’ll probably talk about the process of writing it as it ramps up these next weeks and months leading to July, so it’s nice to have some of it on the blog anyway. Here’s hoping the movement of my visa and everything else here has finally cleared the way for a creative outlet that’s accessible without falling under the weight of other things.

Hope your year has been great so far. Spring is upon us. Lets keep our goals in mind and live some damn good lives.

See you tomorrow (and hopefully this isn’t a lie)

Nick
